In the area of the voigts of Plauen the village Pausa was founded in the late 12th century.

1263           
first proofed mention of the village Pausa (Pussen)
The supposed first settlers were the Wends in 6th / 7th century. They are seen as the founders of Pausa.

05.03.1393 
Pausa's first documentary mention as a town. In this year Pausa was pawned to the Markgrafen of Meißen. The oldest town statutes are from the year 1449.

1571

1617           
On 40 000 square meters lived 700 inhabitants. They all were farmers. So every house had stables and other agricultural buildings.

1852           
The present town hall was purchased. Since then it was reconstructed several times. On November 26th 1892 the town hall was handed over in it's present shape to the town by architect Franz Wohlfahrt. Several renews took place since then.

1883           
rail track Mehltheuer - Weida was opened

ab 1888      
several factories and a power plant were built. So many branches formed the industrial structure of Pausa

1912           
Zeppelin flew over Pausa.

15.06.1930 
Opening of the open-air swimming pool at Butterberg. After reconstruction the "Freibad Pausa" is a modern leisure centre and is widely used by kids as well as by adults.

1934           
A glass  globe was placed on the roof of the town hall. Now Pausa had it's emblem as  "centre of the earth". 
The "Earth Axis" can be seen in a cellar room in the town hall. Here the visiton can watch the axis rotatate and even can he lubricate it and dispose over how the world goes round. The lubrication process is supervised by the club Erdachsendeckelscharnierschmiernippel-Kommission zu Pausa e.V. (http://www.hahn-pausa.de).

Pausa returns from Thuringia to free state Saxony.

At a beautiful location with a view over the town there is space for up to 84 houses.

Representative of the places Syrau, Leubnitz, Pausa, Mehltheuer and Mühltroff united to revalue in order to open the region together routistic, and to marked out.

Inauguration of the new kindergarten 

Today in Pausa live about 4000 people. Jewels of nature can be found in Eckardts-Park with its springs and an animal enclosure, in Bad Linda with the moor and the "Reinhards-Spring" and in the nature reserve"Pausaer Weide". 

Pausa has a good prepared net of hiking paths with a length of approx. 55km.

Even stressed big city people find their rest and relaxiation in our small town. Modern boarding houses support you to feel fine and our local restaurants serve typical meals from Vogtland and Germany.

The town invites you to several events all year.
